SMT02C15 – 3D Helmholtz Cage, Customized

A triad of orthogonal Helmholtz coils that allow to create a uniform magnetic field, fixed or rotating, inside a sphere of user-defined size.

The Helmholtz Cage can be used both to cancel the Earth’s magnetic field and generate an area with a magnetic field very close to zero, and to produce a magnetic field of intensity up to user-defined value, oriented at will in space, both fixed and slowly rotating.

Description

The Helmholtz Cage creates a uniform magnetic field, inside a sphere of user-defined diameter, or a cube of user-defined size.
The Helmholtz Cage can either:
• cancel the Earth’s magnetic field, generating a volumen with a field close to zero;
• produce a magnetic field with user-defined intensity and oriented at will in space;
• produce a slowly rotating magnetic field.”

Typical applications:
•   testing of 1D, 2D or 3D geomagnetic sensors;
•   testing of magnetic-based modules or components for the determination of the attitude and the magnetic measurement of the spin of satellites;
•   testing of ADCS systems for satellites;
•   educational laboratories on the magnetic determination of the attitude of a system;
•   educational laboratories on ADCS systems for satellites.

The Helmholtz Cage can be easily combined and integrated with other SpaceMotionery products (e.g. the Solar Simulator; the Solar Sensor and Star Tracker test systems; the 3D Gimbal for satellite attitude control).

The cage is simular to SMT02C13 – 3D Helmholtz Cage, 27U, 0.65G/A without controller but with customizable mechanical and magnetic parameters.
