Description
The Helmholtz Cage creates a uniform magnetic field, fixed or rotating, inside a sphere of 60 cm in diameter, or a cube of 35x35x35 cm3(27U CubeSat).
The Helmholtz Cage can be used both to cancel the Earth’s magnetic field, generating a volumen with a magnetic field very close to zero, and to produce a magnetic field of intensity which depends on user controller. This equipment is similar to SMT02C13 – 3D Helmholtz Cage, 27U, with built-in controller 400uT, WiFi, but it has NO embedded coil controller.
Typical applications:
• testing of 1D, 2D or 3D geomagnetic sensors;
• testing of magnetic-based modules or components for the determination of the attitude and the magnetic measurement of the spin of satellites;
• testing of ADCS systems for satellites;
• educational laboratories on the magnetic determination of the attitude of a system;
• educational laboratories on ADCS systems for satellites.
The Helmholtz Cage can be easily combined and integrated with other SpaceMotionery products (e.g. the Solar Simulator; the Solar Sensor and Star Tracker test systems; the 3D Gimbal for satellite attitude control).
The Cages has no embedded controller, so each coil has to be driven by user equipment. Coils can be cntrolled in either Helmholtz of anti-Helmholtz mode, bnased on user controller, yet the inter-coild distance is optimized only for Helmholtz mode.
